Block Party For Dogs
Attention Downtown Brooklyn residents - it's DOG-tober Fest in Downtown Brooklyn as we hold our first-ever Block Party For Dogs.
This rain or shine event will take place on Saturday, October 15 from 9:00am to 6:00pm on Fleet Street, between Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street (behind Albee Square and Chase Bank) in Downtown Brooklyn. There will be a whole day of fun, including an enclosed dog run, treats, games, activities and entertainment for dogs and their owners!
Block Party For Dogs is presented by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. Our sponsors for this event are PetSmart and residential building The Addison.

New Management
On August 15th, the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership assumed management of the MetroTech BID’s programs and services. The Partnership, a non-profit local development corporation, also manages the programs and services of the other two Downtown Brooklyn BIDs: the Fulton Mall Improvement Association and the Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn BID.
The Partnership will provide a wide range of services for the businesses, merchants, residents and visitors within the MetroTech BID district. One of our primary responsibilities will continue to be daily supplemental sanitation services and landscaping services to ensure the area is clean and attractive. In addition, the MetroTech BID’s security services will be enhanced with the hiring of more security guards, to ensure that Downtown Brooklyn remains one of the safest neighborhoods in the City. MetroTech’s security team will continue to be led by Security Director Pete Coyne, who can be reached at 718-797-5996.
The Partnership and the BID will provide other services as well, including façade improvement and window display grants to local merchants; the ValueCard discount program; and shopping guides and other marketing services to promote shopping in the district. In addition, the Partnership actively assists property owners in attracting retail and commercial office tenants. The Partnership works with various City agencies to improve Downtown’s infrastructure and beautify its streetscape. And it continues to partner with all levels of government and local stakeholders to plan for the future growth of Downtown Brooklyn.
To better serve the MetroTech BID district, the Partnership is looking to fill a new full-time “Services Manager” position. Click here for the Services Manager job description. Once on board, this new staff member will focus exclusively on meeting the needs of MetroTech’s businesses, property owners, residents and other stakeholders.

Spotlight On: Downtown Integrated Medical Services

We’re celebrating 15 years in the Downtown Brooklyn community! It’s an exciting time for us. We are upgrading our office; moving towards an electronic filing system and adding more services. As a multi-specialty clinic, under the direction of Dr Anzhela Dvorkina, we have an excellent team of licensed health care professionals who provide the highest quality of health care. The staff is friendly, we take pride in making sure all of our patients feel comfortable and are treated with respect. We strive to provide the highest standards of professional medical care.
The office looks much different, what upgrades were made?
The waiting room now has new seating and televisions. In the various departments, we upgraded the Physical Therapy equipment, added a new Chiropractic and Neurological care department. The Diagnostic Treatment Center is now fully equipped for all diagnostic screenings. The Pain Management and Anesthesiology department is now able to perform Fluoroscopic Injections under X-Ray guidance. This fall we are computerizing all our systems for appointments, patient records, insurance information, filing, laboratory and diagnostic results.

What else can you tell us about Downtown Integrated Medical Services?
Our hours are Monday –Thursday 9am-7pm, Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday 9am-5pm. We accept all major medical insurance plans; HMO, Medicare and Medicaid. Our staff is fluent Spanish, Russian and Hindi. We are affiliated with several major Brooklyn hospitals.
